奚力,博士, 2004年7月在浙江大学化工系获得学士学位,2009年7月在美国威斯康辛麦迪逊大学获得博士学位,2009年9月至2013年9月在麻省理工学院从事博士后研究,2013年10月至今为加拿大麦克马斯特大学化工系助理教授。主要研究方向包括软物质、复杂流体计算、聚合物流变、流体力学计算、多尺度模拟等领域,近年来在Physical Review Letter, AICHE Journal, Journal of Physical Chemistry,Journal of Fluid Mechanics等国际知名杂志发表各类研究论文10余篇。

Polymers are ubiquitous in our life. Properties and behaviors of these materials, however, are often not intuitively predictable. Challenges in
understanding polymer systems root in the multiscale nature of their
dynamics as well as their complex coupling with external deformation or
flow. We use high-performance computers to simulate these systems and
investigate their underlying dynamics, from the molecular scale up to
the continuum level. These insights will guide us towards more informed
strategies for materials and process design. Two such examples in
different areas of application will be discussed in this presentation.
