报告人简介:
Ji Liu obtained his Ph.D. in 2013 under the cosupervision of Prof. Christine Jerome at the University of Liege and Prof. Etienne Duguet at the University of Bordeaux, funded by the scholarship from Erasmus Mundus International Doctoral School (IDS-FunMat). His PhD research focused on developing innovative theranostics assembled from well-defined macromolecules and inorganic nanocolloids. He joined the group of Prof. Oren Scherman at the University of Cambridge as a postdoctoral research associate in 2014 and then as a Marie Curie research fellow since 2015. His current research is mainly focused on cucurbit[n]uril-based supramolecular host-guest interactions for polymeric self-assembly, supramolecular transient networks and dynamic interfacial adhesion.
报告内容简述:
Cucurbit[n]urils (CB[n]) are excellent host molecules as they could form stable yet dynamic complexes with guest moieties in aqueous media with extremely high affinity. The larger homologue CB[8] is capable of simultaneously accommodating two guests to form either heteroternary (1:1:1) or homoternary (2:1) complexes with association constants up to 1015 M-2 through multiple non-covalent interactions. Such host-guest complexation has been exploited as a dynamic linking motif to construct supramolecular polymers, micelles, transient hydrogels, microcapsules, hierarchical-structured colloids and colloid/polymer hybrid materials. The talk will present the speaker’s recent work on CB[n]-based supramolecular hydrogel networks with extreme stretchability, remarkable toughness and strength, fast room temperature self-healing, as well as the promising use as wearable electronics, supra-tough interfacial adhesion, as well structural biomaterials.
