A/Prof. Qin Li is a nanotechnology scientist and chemical engineer. Environmental pollution and climate change have been the central motivation of her research activities, which encompass the areas of environmental sensing, novel remediation technology, green production technologies and biomedicine through a focused effort on developing novel nanomaterials and nanotechnologies. She has internationally-recognized expertise on carbon nanodots, graphene nanomaterials and colloidal photonic crystals. Dr. Li obtained her PhD at the Department of Chemical Engineering, the University of Queensland in 2002. She was a Marie Curie International Incoming Fellow hosted by the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Germany from 2006 - 2009. A/Prof. Li has edited one book and co-authored 6 book chapters, more than 90 journal papers and 4 patents with an H-index of 31.

Nanocarbon is a fascinating family of materials that have attracted significant research interest. My research in this field has been focused on photoactive nanocarbons including graphene quantum dots, carbon dots and graphene. We have developed skillsets in nanocarbon synthesis, characterization and demonstrated their strong potential in the applications of nanosensors, water purification devices, theranostic agent and additive manufacturing. In this presentation I will particularly highlight the structure-property-performance relationship in nanocarbons. Our research in other areas and Griffith University will be briefly introduced to promote collaborations.
